Create’s Social Value

An independent review into the wider positive impact of Create’s work

We commissioned consultancy Partnership First to identify and evaluate the extent that Create delivers Social Value through its workshop programme and wider engagement with its stakeholders. To determine this, qualitative and quantitative evidence was received from Create’s artists, community partners, and corporate partners.

The report produced covers the period between April 2024 – March 2025.

Social Value is defined as the Positive social, environmental and economic impact of an activity on stakeholders. (Source: Public Services (Social Value Act) UK Cabinet Office 2012)

In determining Create’s Social Value, Partnership First looked at:

  • CREATE DATA: From Create’s post-project evaluation process and feedback from artists taking part in Create’s CPD training and Nurturing Talent Programme.
  • SOCIAL VALUE SURVEY: Completed by an average of 70% of the 119 Community Partners, 65 Artists and eight Corporate Partners who received it.
  • FOCUS GROUPS: Two focus groups with Community Partners and an interview with a parent from Brent Mencap in April 2025.

said that Create’s work had a substantial or exceptional impact on Community Cohesion and Renewal.

The report found that as a result of Create’s work:

  • Participants are more empowered: Create has had an exceptional impact on improving wellbeing and building their self-esteem.
  • Participants are more creative: Create has an exceptional impact on their creativity and artform skills.
  • Participants are more engaged: Create has had an exceptional impact in encouraging participants to engage with the world around them. 

The report concluded: “Create’s work makes a real difference, enabling participants to make significant changes to their lives and demonstrating the importance that the creative arts can have in supporting their future journey in life.”

It is a fantastic initiative that focuses on giving a voice and nurturing the creativity of the most vulnerable people in society.
