Inspired by English Delftware, we will create a tray or plate using the slab technique and then decorate using underglaze.
In this class, you will learn:

  • How to mould a plate or tray with slab
  • How to and why to add feet to your work
  • Using white slip
  • Using underglazes
  • Using transfer techniques for underglaze
  • Using sgraffito and other carving techniques for underglaze

Your piece will then be bisque fired and finished with transparent glaze, fired to 1220C.

You will be required to return to the studio 3-4 weeks after you class date to collect your work. Postage is available at extra cost.

Please note: We strive to help you create something amazing during your pottery class. Because each piece is handmade and involves many variables (such as clay handling, glaze, and firing conditions), we’re unable to offer refunds or replacements for defects or damages that occur in items you’ve made.

Date: Tuesday 7 July
