“A zine is like a DIY book that anyone can make. In a story, events lead from one to the other, so it’s a nice way to think through how people make decisions, and to put that power into the young carers’ hands.”Create artist Linden McMahon
In our change:matters zine making workshops, young carers learn about saving, budgeting, interest, borrowing money and debt through a combination of creative writing and visual art.
Led by professional artists including Linden McMahon (who you can see in the video above), the young carers explore these themes by writing and illustrating creative comics, where characters navigate different financial scenarios and consider the consequences of the decisions they might make.
