Create your own Bake Sale
Throwing a bake sale is a great way to raise money for your favourite cause. We have resources here to make it as easy as possible to make sure your event is successful. Follow these tips to make sure the event goes smoothly:
Make sure that you have a good team of volunteers, and don’t be afraid to delegate! You’ll need people to bake the goodies; to publicise your event; to organise any equipment you might need (eg tables and chairs); and to take donations on the day itself.
Publicise your bake sale in advance: whether you use social media, emails, or posters, make sure you promote the event in advance to ensure people know about it and are excited!
Pick a busy spot: people will be drawn to your stall when they see the wonderful selection on offer, so make sure you set up in a location with a high footfall, and choose a busy time of day (lunchtime is often a winner).
Variety is the spice of life: make sure that your bakers aren’t all making the same thing! Don’t be afraid to branch out – a bake sale doesn’t have to consist solely of sweet treats. Why not experiment with savoury breads or muffins?
You don’t need to be a star baker to hold a bake sale: don’t forget to ask local shops and bakeries to donate some goodies.
On the day
Presentation is key: from banners to bunting, make sure your stall is eye-catching to bring over more passers-by! It’s also a great way to let them know more about Create, and the impact their donations will have. Anything to encourage them to dig deep!
Pricing: keep it simple, so it is as easy as possible for people to buy your delicious treats. Settle on a few price points (eg £1 / £3 / £5) and try and have some petty cash on the day so that you can give people change.
After it all
Share your success! Don’t forget to thank the volunteers and customers after the event, and share with them the impact their support has made. Why not direct them to a participant case study on Create’s website (such as Cameron’s story), so they can hear first-hand the difference they will make to people’s lives.
And finally, don’t forget to let us know here at Create! We would love to hear from you if you are planning to fundraise for us, and are on hand to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to celebrating your success!
