creative:together
creative:together is our multi-arts project with METRO Charity, which works with young people experiencing issues related to gender, sexuality, diversity or identity in London and the South East.
LGBTQ+ young people are more likely to experience mental ill-health owing to a range of factors including stigma, discrimination and social isolation. (MIND)
During the pandemic, this issue was drastically exacerbated: more than two-thirds of LGBTQ+ people exhibited significant symptoms of depression during the lockdown, according to research by UCL and the University of Sussex, with almost 10% feeling unsafe at home.
The creative arts can offer LGBTQ+ young people a powerful way to explore their identities and emotions, express themselves, and find their voice. This in turn boosts their confidence and sense of wellbeing.
