An artist activity for Create Week created by Alejandra Carles-Tolra. Children should only do this activity under adult supervision.
Hello! Did you know that photography is all about looking, pausing and finding interesting things around us? Today we’re going to go on an adventure around our house to find interesting hidden spots and learn about new perspectives. We are going to take our favourite stuffed animal with us on an adventure and we’re going to document it with our cameras!
Are you ready?
Before we start
- Get a camera ready (Make sure you have a phone or camera that has full battery)
- Choose your favorite stuffed animal and get them ready for an adventure!
What is the adventure?
Do you know any good hiding spots in your house? If you were your little friend size, where would you hide? Look around the house to find the best hiding spots for your stuffed animal and then take a photograph!
Here are four clues for hiding spots:
- Find a hiding spot in the living room (underneath the sofa, behind a lamp…)
- Find a hiding spot in the bedroom (in between sheets, clothes, shoes…)
- Find a hiding spot in a reading area (in between books or magazines)
- Find a hiding spot in nature (behind or in between a plant)
Place your stuffed animal in those spots, get your camera ready and take a photo!
→ Make sure we can see a little bit of your little friend peeking from their hiding spot (we might just see an ear, a foot, an eye…)
Photo tips
Make your photographs more creative by:
❖ Photographing from different angles
Lay down on the floor and photograph from the perspective of a bug, or photograph from above looking down like a bird
❖ Take some photographs in black & white to make it look more mysterious
❖ Place your stuffed animal in front of a light and capture their shadow
❖ Place your little friend behind a glass of water and see what happens!
