Have you ever tried a smoking cocktail served in a paper bag? Swathes of sweet, rich botanical smoke greet you as you unwrap the parcel and reveal the cocktail inside: a warming negroni made from gin, amaro and tobacco liquor, sweetened with a drop of maple syrup.
This extraordinary cocktail is available at Three Six Six: a pair of colourful and creative cocktail bars in South London: Battersea and Earlsfield.
This year, Three Six Six has selected Create as its partner charity for Negroni Week, a worldwide “celebration of one of the world’s great cocktails and an effort to raise money for charitable causes around the world.” From 6 – 12 June, £1 from each of Three Six Six’s visionary cocktails will benefit disadvantaged and vulnerable people across the UK, as we transform lives using the creative arts.
One of the groups that the collaboration will support is young carers, 68% of whom experience social isolation and bullying. Some are as young as five and some care for more than 50 hours a week. This year, Negroni Week falls on Carers’ Week, so it feels apt that the money raised will provide them with opportunities to build supportive, trusting relationships with their peers in a fun, safe and non-threatening environment.
“I wasn’t able to think clearly before because of stress, worry and tiredness. Create has opened my eyes and woken me up to what I can achieve.” Carer
Three Six Six serves a wide array of inventive and unusual negronis, so there’s no excuse not to come down and try them for yourself!
Thank you to everyone on the Three Six Six team for making us feel so welcome, especially to Eduardo who greeted us so warmly, and Lukas who amazed us with his prodigious mixology skills.
From everyone at Create ~ Cheers!
