It has been a busy few months and we’ve got even more to look forward to! Create is collaborating with a renowned Swiss chef to offer young carers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity; we’re hosting a major fundraising event at Sadler’s Wells; our interactive music event for disabled children and their families returns to London and Milton Keynes; and we’re running 129 workshops in August alone with young carers, young patients and vulnerable women. We hope you’re enjoying your summer as much as we are! Nicky Goulder ~ Co-Founder & Chief Executive Join the conversation and find us on Twitter and Facebook. Young carers get Michelin-starred advice In August, we are teaming up with Mosimann’s Academy (established by Swiss Michelin star chef Anton Mosimann OBE in 1996) to give 12 young carers from Kingston, Merton and Richmond a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. With guidance from a top Mosimann’s chef and our professional set designer Anett Black, the young carers will spend a week creating a restaurant experience complete with their own three-course menu and table decorations. From 18-22 August, we’ll be providing daily updates on their progress so keep an eye on our social media channels!
Edward Scissorhands at Sadler’s Wells We’re holding a special fundraising event on 8 January 2015 in collaboration with our Patron, award-winning choreographer Matthew Bourne. Alongside his staging of Edward Scissorhands at Sadler’s Wells, we have a limited number of special tickets available that include best seats, signed programme, drinks with Matthew and members of the cast and a chance to be photographed with “Edward”. Further details and tickets are available here.
Interactive music event for disabled children and their families Our interactive creative:space music event returns to Milton Keynes on 28 September and London on 30 November. Take your family to see toe-tapping Bad Ass Brass and astonishing pianist Derek Paravicini (who is blind and has severe learning difficulties). Enjoy craft activities, a chance to play with the band and of course some dancing! Tickets are now available via our website.
Project highlights Thanks to a major grant from The Queen’s Trust, we’ve been able to deliver our new multi-arts programme creative:connection to young disabled people across the country. In May we partnered with Sense to enable deafblind participants to explore expression through music and drama, and we’ve been shortlisted for Signature’s prestigious “Organisational Achievement” award. We’ve also been working with adult carers in Newham, providing jewellery making workshops and photography sessions.
Introducing our new brand You may have noticed that Create has a bold new brand, thanks to brand consultancy BrandPie. A £35,000 gift-in-kind from the BrandPie Foundation has enabled us to review, redesign and implement our brand across all of our communication channels.
We need your support Our work would not happen without the many generous donations that we receive. Please help us to continue providing life-changing creative opportunities for disadvantaged children and adults by donating now. Read more about the effect of our work in our Impact Report.
