Last Thursday, our 10th anniversary Gala Dinner at Mosimann’s raised £45,213 after costs, a fantastic 15% increase on 2012. The event included a showing of our Inspiring Creativity film, a sumptuous six course dinner, a rousing auction by Chairman of Bonhams, Colin Sheaf and a raffle. A guest commented: “Thank you for a super evening last night, great food, company and what a fantastic organisation!”
As our most important fundraising event of the year, we used the event to launch an important new appeal. Thanks to the transformational grant that we have received from The Queen’s Trust, we have the opportunity to double the reach of our work with young carers, young people with disabilities and young offenders & their children over the next three years. A matched funding condition with this grant means that every new donation we receive unlocks £1 for £1 funding from The Queen’s Trust and, for those who gift aid their donation, Create receives £2.50 for every £1 given. The appeal on the evening raised £9,275.
We would like to thank Mosimann’s for hosting the event, Colin Sheaf and his wife Annie for conducting the auction, and all those organisations and individuals who provided an item for the auction or raffle, bought a table, purchased raffle tickets, bid or made a donation. The proceeds of the Gala will enable us to make a real difference to the lives of some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our society over the coming months.
