On Saturday 6 July, Team Create (staff, Trustees, artists and friends) set out on a 10 mile walk from our City of London office to my old home in Blackheath, from where the charity was born in my dining room on 7 July 2003. We planned the symbolic journey to celebrate our 10th anniversary in a fun, social way and to raise vital funds for our work. 20 of us set off at 10am on a journey that took us over London Bridge, down the south side of the Thames, across Greenwich Park and over Blackheath Common. We retraced 10 years, visiting some of the communities where we have worked, including Bede House, Grange Primary School and The Scoop at More London. It was a warm, sunny day, we stopped for a picnic midway and of course ended in a bar (we felt we’d earned it!).
This 10 for 10 Challenge walk made Create’s 10th birthday weekend really special and I feel privileged and humbled to be part of such a committed, dedicated team. Best of all, we exceeded our £2,000 target, raising £2,124.70 towards our work. Thank you again to all who were part of the event, and to all those who sponsored us. You can still support by making a donation through our Team Create fundraising page. Enjoy the photos and, if you feel inspired, why not see what you can do for Create in its 10th anniversary year by looking at other events in our 10 for 10 Challenge!
