On Friday 17 February, 15 young people from Margate’s Czech, Polish and British communities came together for a dance performance at the Turner Contemporary, inspired by the gallery’s Turner and the Elements exhibition. The performers had taken part in our Dance to the Music of Art visual art and dance project, which ran from January through to mid-February.
What we do
Speak With My Voice
Adults at Deptford Reach (a day centre in South East London that helps people rebuild lives that have been damaged by homelessness, mental illness, drug or alcohol abuse and social exclusion) are finding their voice through poetry and music thanks to our Speak With My Voice project.
creative:u~turn
Between September 2011 and April 2012, we are running creative:u~turn, the second year of a major new creative arts programme for women who attend U-Turn Project. U-Turn is a charity that works with vulnerable and hard to reach women of all ages who have been trapped in cycles of prostitution, drug addiction, physical abuse and homelessness from a young age. The project has been funded by international law firm, Reed Smith LLP, and consists of four series of six halfday workshops, each of which is being run by one of our professional artists. Two RS volunteers help out each week.
